FORWARD

Kal Bishop's 188 stage Hero's Journey (Mono Myth) is the template on which the vast majority of successful stories and Hollywood blockbusters are based. In fact, all of the hundreds of Hollywood movies we have deconstructed (see URL below) are based on this 188 + stage template.

Understanding this template is a priority for story or screenwriters. This is the template you must master if you are to succeed in the vessel.

[The terminology is usually metaphoric and applies to all successful stories and scenarios, from The Godfather (1972) to Brokeback Mountain (2006) to Annie Hall (1977) to Lord of the Rings (2003) to Drugstore Cowboy (1989) to Thelma and Louise (1991) so Apocaplyse (1979)].

THERE IS ONLY ONE STORY

Situational STRUCTURAL AND STORYTELLING WALK

It is important to get away from this idea that all stories are different.

At one level all situational stories. For example, Gladiator (2000), Alien (1979) and The Godfather (1972) Situational all very different.

But on a structural and subconscious level, they are all the same.

And I do not mean basic, three act structure as (natural stories have a beginning, middle and end). And I do not plot points etc or (Plot Point 1 and 2, Center Point, etc.).

I mean, sequence of order, the vast majority of successful stories [we have not found one that does not] follow the same process that the Hero and Grand Pushes people through the process of transformation and resolution Challenge.

What this means is that you, the writer must understand this structure trust (Kal Bashir 188 + stage Hero's Journey), use your structural design to determine and then superimpose your position on it.

ABRIDGED TIPS, extracts and EXAMPLES:

***** Hero and Supernatural Aid Separation *****

It is not unusual for the hero not impressed with the supernatural help and separated from him (or her) [or vice versa].

In A Christmas Carol (1978), Scrooge initially polarized in its spirit of Marley.

In Empire Strikes Back (1980), is not impressed with Luke Yoda.

In The Terminator (1984), Sarah Reese initially mistrusts.

Interdiction ***** *****

These are physical limitations and penalties given by an authority figure (Interdictor) that prevent the Hero embark on the journey and Transformation. In Star Wars (1977), Uncle Luke Owen wants to wait another harvest: when Luke went missing, "there will be hell to pay …" In The Incredibles (2004), the government prohibits all superhero activity. The ban is reinforced by Mr Incredible's anal boss (if you decide you'll be fired! ")
